Pacific Poker is the poker room of 888.com and they have their own poker network. You will not find as much traffic here as on other networks, but the competition is generally very fishy. So what Pacific Poker may lack in player traffic it makes up for in the quality (or rather non-quality) of its players. This is a result of being owned by the 888 Group, which sees many of their sportsbook and/or casino players moving over to online poker.
Pacific Poker's numbers are close to that of PKR's – you’ll find around 1700 cash players, and up 8000 tourney players online at peak times. Most of the players will be found in the Limit and no-limit Holdem tables although they do also offer Omaha Hi-lo and Seven Card Stud.
Overall, they offer Texas Holdem in No Limit, Fixed Limit and Pot Limit, regular Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo in Pot Limit and Fixed Limit, and 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo in Pot Limit as well as Fixed Limit. Stakes in Hold'em Fixed Limit start at $0.05/$0.10 and go all the way up to $30/$60. No Limit and Pot Limit start at $0.05/$0.1 and climb up to $3/$6.
The soft competition at Pacific Poker is where this poker room "excels" if you can call it that! You will find a lot of fishy players, which is probably a result of casino and sports betting players coming from other sites owned by the 888 Group. If you play solid poker, there is no reason you shouldn't be successful here, but be prepared to lose a few big pots, because you will come across maniacs and calling stations drawing to big hands!
For a long time, Pacific Poker had a bad rep for having arguably the crappiest software out there. But things have changed for the better. Visually, they have improved the environment with the choice of 3-D avatars, different card designs and different backgrounds. Functionality has improved with things like note-taking, statistical analysis, and hand history. And you can now multi-table up to 16 re-sizeable tables at a time.
Their sign-up bonus is 100% up to $400, but unlike other poker rooms you get 25% of that immediately, before you even start playing.
As you play you collect both Status Points and Reward Points. The higher your status, the more Reward Points you get. Reward points can then be exchanged for real cash, tournament entries, merchandise and more.
Pacific Poker also offers reload bonuses roughly every other month. The bonuses are usually very good with a 50% deposit match up to $300-$500. Players can also earn a $50 bonus for each referred friend while the referred player receives $25. They also have some interesting gimmicks - probably most popular with casino players - otherwise known as Bad Beat and Royal Jackpot tables (under the "Jackpots" tab).
A couple of years ago, customer support at Pacific Poker had a bad reputation as well. This has changed however, and we have had a good experience with their level of support.
