They have both afternoon and evening tournaments. Their weekly evening tournaments can bring in anywhere between 30-40 runners, with weekend bringing in up to 50 runners.

As of October 2011 all tournaments are fully dealer dealt with special ADDED MONEY events every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday - 8:30pm (£500 ADDED*) £20 + £10 + £10
Saturday - 8:30pm £1000 ADDED - £30 + £10
Sunday - 8:30pm (£500 ADDED*) £30 + £10

Cash Games

Cash games normally start when people start busting out of the evening comps and are typically NL Holdem (please contact the club for the stakes). Sometimes to encourage players to get the cash game started the cardroom will pay half the sit-down requirement which is normally £50. If you lose the money you don't have to pay it back, but if you win you do. They sometimes have slightly larger games (£100 and higher sit-down for instance) if there is enough demand, and sometimes smaller games as well (£25 sit-down)

Background

The Western Club is one of the largest card rooms in the UK. The whole premises covers 11,000 sq. feet and they can host up to 300 players at a time. It is very spacious and they have two areas for dining.

The club's reputation has suffered in the past, but they are enjoying a resurgence of sorts with a recent change in management and staff. If you've been previously to the Western Club you will find it a more controlled, professional operation now. The tournament and cash schedule are now more varied and reflect what the players (of all skills and bankrolls) are looking for.

There are a lot of regulars here, so you will see a lot of similar faces if you come regularly. It's therefore quite a friendly atmosphere. The club has been around a while, and is pretty well-known - the odd poker pro like Roland de Wolff have come through these doors.

If you are coming by Tube, Park Royal station is a 5 minute walk away, and Hanger Lane a bit further. And if you are driving there is ample parking space.

Promotions

Loyalty Card Freeroll - every activity you do in the club will be rewarded with a loyalty stamp, get 20 stamps for an entry into their monthly freeroll. For example a poker tournament entry gets you 1 stamp as does 1 hour of snooker, 1 hour of backgammon, Kalooki, bridge or scrabble. Look out for their double stamp nights! Their August Freeroll had a prize pool of £1818 - with the club providing all the money in the pool (the club adds £1 for every poker tournament entry)

Cash Rollercoaster - $500 will be added every day until the jackpot rollercoaster reaches $10,000. Then the rollercoaster will begin its descent and lose $500 every day until it reaches its original $500, The cycle then begins again.

The jackpot can be won at any time by anyone playing in a cash game with five or more players. All you have to do to win up to $10,000 for you and the table is;

1. Hit any three of a kind all on the flop : AAA
2. Win the hand in usual fashion to become the 'rollercoaster rider'
3. All of the cards apart from the flop are re shuffled
4. Dip from the 49 cards to make four of a kind and win up to $10,000 between you and the table

(winner gets 50% and even split between the rest of the table) - Please contact the cardroom for more details!

Food & Drink

Complimentary tea & coffee is served throughout the day. Home cooked meals, pub grub as well as bar food, sandwiches and Panini’s.

Other activities

Other activities are available like snooker, kalooki, and bridge. There are a lot of computer terminals as well, so it's to play some online poker while you are there. You can surf the Internet for free, and if you want to play poker, it has to be on Rags 2 Riches Poker.

Membership

Membership is free - just bring id for your first visit.

Had a great time at the western, not sure about the negative comments i've never seen the staff put less rebuys or addons up, the dealer bonus is £5 or £10 and pays for the staff I guess which i'm happy to pay rather than deal myself! Its a decent club all round really.

Decided to pay a visit to The Western after a long time away for a £1000 added £50 10k chip Rebuy. Firstly I have to say how excellent this cardroom looks! very smart and spacious with a big glass cube housing their final table, very nice. The tourney was run well (aside from a few hiccups with needing another table and another dealer early on) but I think this was due to the popularity of the tourney. The atmosphere was nice and was never noisy (something the old western was renound for) I had a fantastic nights poker and narowly missed out on the money but will definately be back. my only critisism is the waitress staff need to be a little faster with their service, it was very very slow.

The Western has had a refurb and new final table section too - looks good. Food is good but service is slow - generally tournaments are solid. All in all a great place to play large tables lots of space - facilities and parking ok...

This place is looks amazing!! good food, good bar facility, solid tourneys (average buy ins/lots of chips) Cash game seems lively whether you play in the £25 game or the £250 it seems, It can be a little noisy but cardroom staff never let it get out of control, I shall be a regular at The Western (living 5 mins away in ealing helps too) ;)

Great Club, been coming here since it opened, and yes it is quieter now than in its early days, mainly because there is so much more competition now, although recently the club has picked up and the £1000 added on a wednesday gets 100+ runners and excellent cash games follow. The Western is on the up and up!
