Background
If you have been around the London poker scene, you may recall the Gala Casino at Russell Square had a busy cardroom back in the day. It wasn't making enough money and management decided to close it down. Seven years later, they have reintroduced poker, albeit on a much smaller scale.
Previously, the cardroom occupied the entire downstairs area known to regulars as the "dungeon". After having a couple of tables upstairs, they've moved the poker downstairs again. Games are pretty much all £1-£2 NL Holdem. They've introduced a couple of tournaments to the cardroom now, their Tuesday £25 Double chance comp and their Thursday £10 rebuy.
You will find a lot of young players, some casino fish, and some of the old regulars that used to frequent the cardroom are starting to come back.
There is normally only one table going, but at busy times, if there is enough demand they will open the second table. Action normally starts anytime between 7-9pm.
Food & Drink
There's a restaurant, and of course you can get all the regular bar food and drinks on the casino floor as well.
Membership
You can join the same day, as long as you have proper ID
