All tournaments are dealer dealt. You will typically find anywhere between 30-50 runners at their tournaments. (Tournament details may change on short notice however - please contact the cardroom directly to confirm tournament details)
Cash games
Cash games start at the break of tournaments. They are all dealer dealt , and you will regularly find £1-£1 and £1-£2 Pot Limit Holdem games. Once in a while there will also be £2-£4 games as well. During their Main Events, cash games can go up to £2-£5 and £5-£5 No Limit Holdem.
Background
The Royal Surrey is a snooker and cardroom members' club that has offered poker for many years. But it is only when current management took over in 2007, that they made a concerted effort to turn the club into a quality cardroom.
The cardroom was recently refurbished, and it now boasts 10 poker tables and great facilities. With nice couches, a small dining area, and lots of space, this place looks a lot nicer than most other member's club cardrooms.
The club's origins are in snooker. So you will find snooker legends like Jimmy White and Tony Drago showing up regularly for their poker tournaments. Once in a while, poker pros like Devilfish and the beautiful Liv Boeree will also show up.
We like the fact that the Royal Surrey offers much more than poker. Sure, when you bust out of a tournament, you can join one of their cash games. But you can also head upstairs for a game of snooker, or downstairs to the pub for a bit of karaoke or to watch a band. It doesn't have to be all about poker - you can make a night of it when you visit the Royal Surrey.
The tournament stakes are generally pretty low here. And there's typically between 30 - 50 runners, so you can expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Every 6 to 8 weeks, they also have a main event (typically a £110 Freezeout)which brings in about 80 -100 runners
The Royal Surrey is indeed located all the way in Morden in South London, but don't let the distance fool you. It is simple to get to, being located right next to Morden tube station. There are also buses, including night buses, that take people in all directions.
Membership
Membership is free, just bring id and you should be good to go. You need to be 21 to become a member.
Food & Drink
You have a full pub menu, which you can order and eat in the cardroom. They offer free soft drinks, tea, and sandwiches at cash tables.
Loyalty
They run a points league that lasts 3 months. So every tournament you join (or win) you get points. At the end of the 3 months, the top 27 in points are invited to a mini-tourney, where the winner gets a buy-in to a live event worth typically £1000-1500. The overall points leader gets a free buy-in to their Main Event.
Reviews
I've joined this club only recently. I felt very welcome and accomodated as soon as I walked in. I am not really a tournament player but the cash games here are vibrant. You can call any time of night and get a decent reply which is great when you want to join a cashgame at 2am.

I've been a member of this club for a while and seen it grow. Despite difficulties to begin with this club just seems to grow. The atmosphere is fantastic and any trouble is dealt with appropriately. This is a great looking venue with lots of space. The management is superb I recommend The Royal Surrey to anyone. The place will be a casino one day..........

I have been a few times now and really enjoy it. There was a friendly welcome and when I went back the second time the two in charge remembered me and welcomed me back. There is a decent standard of play without being too intimidating. Tournament every Saturday at 7.30 by the way

This club looks and feels great compared to so many other clubs. I've been playing here since it first opened and it's gone from strength to strength. I still play at other clubs but the feel I get from The Royal Surrey, despite the fact it still hasn't been running as long as many others, is something that always draws me back. It's definitely a club that will keep growing and one to watch out for. I'm glad I found it.

This club has regular affordable tournaments, which appeal to a lot of new and intermediate players. Its nicely laid out, and has a pretty friendly atmosphere. The only reason it doesn`t score massivley high from me, is thier seems to be a new dealer everytime i go (problems with staff) why? . My theory is on 2 of my visits, i noticed regulars who seemed to be rather disguntled by one or two dealers who didnt seem , even old enough to play there,Talking to groewn men like children. One in particular i found rather rude, i shall only refer to as Mr T . The other problem is they do not allow players in the card room once there tournament is over. This is a rule that most other clubs have RULED out, as it only upsets the real poker player who would like to see the game to the end. Fix these problems and i think this club will rapidly grow strenght to strenght! Defintley a club woth visiting!!
